Board President, John McLevie, and staff represent the Refugee Network at the Encinitas Rotary Club Wine Festival. This picture was taken at the entrance to the Festival and all 600 people who attended the festival entered the gate past this display of photos. They were greeted by the Board Chair and his wife Elaine who is a Volunteer and Coordinator of Outreach Programs. They were ably supported by Outreach staff members, Nadia Agory, who arrived as refugee from Sudan just 5 years ago and by Hilda Moera, a Karen refugee from the Burmese refugee camp on the border of Thailand only 7 months ago. Hilda had lived in this camp with her parents for 20 years and arrived in San Diego with her husband and two-year old child. She now has also a six month old baby. Both outreach workers speak English as well as their own language and help to keep the Network closely related to the cultural background of our clients.
